What caused you to get involved with CASA?

I became involved with CASA one year after being introduced to them at the Paradise Main St. festival. The sign had a child on it and my heart is happiest serving children, so I approached the CASA volunteer to inquire what CASA was all about. One year later, I saw the sign in Boyd and remembered to call and check on what it entails. It sounded very doable with my busy schedule so I signed up for the training.

What has been the most rewarding part of being a CASA?

The most rewarding part is sharing my love of children with CASA. And that with CASA I might make a positive difference in the life of a foster child.

What’s your favorite way to connect with your CASA kids?

My favorite way to connect with my CASA child is playing with them. Whether it’s card games, roller skating, baseball, swimming, football or park or ice cream visits. I enjoy meeting the child where they are and having fun with them. Perhaps they’ll share something with me or perhaps they won’t. Either way I want them to know they are loved.

Please share a special moment with us about your advocacy work with your CASA kids.

My special moments with my CASA child are the greetings of joy accompanied with the big long hug I receive when I arrive for a visit!
